Anbernic RG Slide Price Leaked?

Looks like the RG Slide price just leaked, and it’s landing at $189 according to Retro Dodo’s early hands-on review. That’s right — under $200 for Anbernic’s new Android-based sliding handheld. If this holds, it could be one of the most aggressive price tags we’ve seen for a device in this class.

There’s really nothing else quite like it. Most large-screen handhelds today use widescreen layouts, and while 4:3 purists have had a few options (like the RG353V or RG406V), they’ve been capped at around 4 inches or smaller. The RG Slide breaks out of that mold with a 4.7-inch 4:3 screen — a genuinely rare combo — and throws in a full Android experience with sliding controls.

For comparison, the GPD Win 4 and AYANEO Slide are in an entirely different tax bracket, floating well above $500. The RG Slide may not be in the same league performance-wise, but at $189 it’s carving out its own lane — a mid-range Android slider with retro-first ergonomics and screen ratio.

Still, there’s a catch. Some early impressions point out that the design is kind of… chunky. That sliding form factor doesn’t come without tradeoffs, and the RG Slide’s bulk might be a dealbreaker for some. So while $189 could be justified based on the specs and uniqueness alone, it also puts it in a strange middle ground: powerful and novel, but maybe not pocketable enough for everyday carry.

Now, this isn’t official yet. Anbernic hasn’t posted the price on their own site, and this could still be placeholder info or subject to change. But if it holds, the RG Slide might hit that sweet spot between nostalgia and value — just enough weird to be interesting, and just enough spec to be useful.
