(Updated) Anbernic RG Slide Specs Revealed

Anbernic has just partially revealed the specs for the RG Slide, and surprise — it’s not dual-screen after all. Despite early blueprints teasing a PSP Go meets DS hybrid, this one keeps it simple with a single screen. But not just any screen — it’s a 4.7-inch LTPS IPS panel from BOE, featuring a 4:3 aspect ratio, 1280×960 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and full multi-touch. In the retro handheld world, a 4.7-inch 4:3 display is almost unheard of — and honestly, it’s a welcome change. It hits the sweet spot for older gamers who find sub-4-inch screens a bit too cramped.

That said, the panel is not OLED — so if you were hoping for deep blacks and punchy contrast, you might be a little disappointed. It’s still a solid screen on paper, just not the OLED upgrade some were hoping for.

The reveal video shows Genshin Impact running on the device, so it’s safe to assume the RG Slide is running Android. There are also demos of God of War II (PS2) and Twilight Princess (Wii), suggesting a fairly capable chipset under the hood — though no official word yet. Based on the performance, some are speculating it could be the Unisoc T820.

So yeah, the dual-screen dream is dead, but at least we’re getting a solid 4.7-inch 4:3 panel. The design looks a bit bulky, and it comes in black and white. You get dual analog sticks, a proper D-pad, and the usual face buttons. No pricing yet, but with the slide-out form factor, Android OS, and a display that actually respects retro aspect ratios, the RG Slide might just be one of Anbernic’s most promising handhelds to date.

Update: Full Specs Are Now Confirmed

The RG Slide is powered by a Unisoc T820 processor paired with a Mali-G57 GPU. It has 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, running Android 13 out of the box.

Battery capacity is 5000mAh, estimated to last around 6 hours, at least according to Anbernic. Other hardware highlights include dual stereo speakers, a six-axis gyroscope, USB-C with DisplayPort output, TF card support up to 2TB, and active cooling with a heat pipe system.

The AI features seen in other Anbernic models are here too — real-time translation, AI chat, image enhancement, and more.

The RG Slide comes in black and white, and features dual analog sticks, a D-pad, and standard face buttons — all in a sliding form factor reminiscent of older mobile gaming designs. No price has been announced yet.
