Anbernic RG34XXSP Launches

Anbernic has just launched the RG34XXSP, a sleek clamshell handheld that pays homage to the iconic Game Boy Advance SP.

It boasts a 3.4-inch IPS display with a 720×480 resolution, offering crisp visuals and a 3:2 aspect ratio that’s perfect for Game Boy Advance titles. Under the hood, it runs on the Allwinner H700 chipset which is the same chipset in used in the 8 or 9 other Anbernic devices launched in the last 12 months. It isn’t a bad chipset, but maybe consider a newer one Anbernic? Thankfully, the RG34XXSP is paired with 2GB of RAM, which is double of what the other H700 devices have.

Unlike it older brother, the RG35XX SP, the RG34XXSP does come with analog sticks. Connectivity options are robust, with support for 5GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The device also includes a mini HDMI output, allowing you to play on a larger screen when desired.

Battery life should be solid, thanks to a 3300mAh battery which Anbernic claims to offer 6 hours of gameplay on a single charge. The RG34XX SP is available in four colors: yellow, gray, black, and indigo. Priced at $66.99, it’s a budget-friendly option for those looking to dive into retro gaming without breaking the bank.

Now, as with all other handhelds in the clamshell form factor, the hinge is the likeliest component to fail. It it still too early to tell if the hinge is good on this one but looking at how the RG35XX SP has performed so far, I have high hopes on this.
