Being the first product for AYN, the Odin is actually quite a successful one. It was first launched on IndieGoGo way back in 2021 and it was well received, garnering over 10 thousand backers. Not bad as a first product of a new company. But is it all just hype and marketing? Or is the AYN Odin really a good retro gaming handheld? Let’s find out below.
Pros
- Incredible value for money especially the Odin Lite. Allows gaming up to the PS2 for 1/3 the price of other similar devices.
- Overall decent build quality. There are no gaps in the shell and it does not attract fingerprints.
- Battery life is great for a device of this size and performance – almost double of competition.
- Bright screen, suitable for outdoor gaming.
- Right sized – not too big, not too small.
Cons
- Non standard button layout.
- Chipset may not be the latest or most efficient.
- Android doesn’t allow you to play PS3 or Wii U games, yet.
