The ONEXPLAYER 2 is the latest x86 handheld console attempting to dethrone the Steam Deck. It is similarly sized to the Steam Deck but comes with a bigger battery, screen and a more powerful chipset. Its 8.4 inch screen is absolutely beautiful and the small bezels make it even better. If budget is not a concern and you are looking for a powerful handheld console alternative to the Steam Deck, then you must consider the ONEXPLAYER 2.
Pros
- AMD 6800U is powerful and supports modern PC games such as Halo Infinite or Cyberpunk 2077, as well as retro games up to the PS3.
- Huge and beautiful 8.4 inch 2560 x 1600 resolution screen.
- Battery life is good for an x86 device.
- Software allows manual adjustment of screen resolution, TDP, GPU frequency, fan speed on the fly.
- Kickstand allows you to use the device on a desk. In this mode, you can use a mouse and keyboard and use the device just like a gaming laptop.
Cons
- Detachable controllers is a gimmick as they only work if you buy the optional controller hub.
- Size and weight is on the high side and may not be for everyone.
- The device is a fingerprint magnet.
