The Retroid Pocket 2 is the highly anticipated successor to the Retroid Pocket. Released way back in 2020, it quickly establishes Retroid as one of the key players in the retro gaming market. With its improved performance and features, it is one of the better value buys when compared to its competition.
Pros
- Low price point makes it a suitable device for people looking to buy their first retro gaming console.
- Micro HDMI is a welcome addition. Many pricier competitors of the Retroid Pocket 2 are not even providing a TV output option.
- Performs very well up until the N64. Definitely one of the best performers in this price point.
Cons
- Right analog stick isn’t a ‘full’ stick.
- Squarish form factor doesn’t provide the best ergonomics for long gaming sessions.
- Lacks a touchscreen which makes it very difficult to use with Android.
- Dreamcast emulation requires a bit of tinkering before games can be playable.
