The world of retro gaming and portable handhelds was rocked when Asus announced the ROG Ally. This gaming handheld has caught the attention of gamers worldwide, thanks to a robust feature set and the trusted ASUS brand behind it. It has all the right features: a beautiful 120 Hz screen, a powerful processor, and an impressive design. But is it really worth getting it?
Pros
- The ASUS ROG Ally’s 1080p 7 inch 120 Hz display is nothing short of stunning. Games look sharp and clear and they run incredibly smoothly. The screen’s brightness and color accuracy outshine competitors like the Steam Deck.
- Its slim and comfortable form factor makes the Ally a really suitable for gamers who enjoy extended gaming sessions.
- Impressive performance with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. This is probably the most powerful processor you can get on a thin and light device.
- Good SSD performance for faster loading times.
Cons
- Limited battery life working against the ergonomics to limit gaming sessions.
- 7 inch makes touch-based navigation in Windows 11 challenging. Although it can be used as a productivity device, you don’t want to buy the Ally for that.
- The Ally gets a little hot during strenuous gaming sessions.
- SD Card reader may or may not function.
